Mary Elizabeth Moore was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 23, 1928 to Julius and Katie Carter. She was the second youngest of six children and was given the nick named Mae Mae by the family. The family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where Mary attended grade school. She returned to Richmond, Virginia in her teens and resided with her grandmother. While living there she was employed as a live in domestic and she often shared stories regarding various experiences she had while working as a domestic.

At the age of twenty-five, she married Charlie J. Moore on October 24, 1953 and moved to New Jersey. In spite of her numerous health challenges during her life, she always held on to her belief and trust in her Lord. Many of the members of the group referred to her as Queenie or Queen Elizabeth.  She was a Classy Lady with a flair for fashion and always impeccably dressed whenever she attended the Senior group or whenever she went out.  She was a friendly person and love to be the center of attention. She was known to sit with young people and give them sound advise about various life issues.
