James E. Hadley was born on September 17, 1941 in Lakeland, Florida, son of the late Lewis Hadley Sr. and Lula Mae Hadley. He was raised by his grandmother Alberta Merritt Daniels. In his early years he moved to the New York/New Jersey area. In 1972 he met the love of his life and shared 33 years together.
James was employed as a Custodian with the Elizabeth Board Of Education were he retired in October of 2018 with more than thirty years of service . He was loved by all who came in contact with him.
Pop Pop as he was affectionately called by his family, he enjoyed creating memories with his loved ones. He loved sitting back with a cold drink watching cowboy shows, reading the new paper and he did not go a day without playing his lottery.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth Hadley; 2 daughter Melissa Hadley and Donna Walker; 3 brother Eddie Lee Hadley, Reginald Hadley Sr and Ronald Hadley; 3 sisters Sandy Smith, Brenda Smith and Selma Alberta Smith.
James leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a loving family that includes 4 sons Richie Fonville (Kathleen), James Edward Hadley, Allen Walker, James A. Hadley(Evelina); 2 daughters Kiska Walker and Joyce Hadley; 13 grandchildren Itaya Carter, Damiria Walker, Deirdre Walker, Randy Walker, Jyaire Hadley, Janesia Fonville, Juwan Fonville, Richelle(Kevin) A’ngelia Fonville, DeBario Howze, Jalissa Hadley, Melesha Crockett, Jeffrey Crockett Jr.; great-grandchildren Na-ji and Zoey; 4 brother Ozelle Hadley(Sheila), Bryant Hadley(Sheila), Lewis Hadley Sr.(Flossie), Freddie Lee Hadley Sr.(Gladys); 1 sister Rosalyn Grady; 2 sisters-in-law Pearl Hadley and Viola Burnam; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
